OAS scholarships for postgraduate studies

There are various types of support and scholarships, each with its specific requirements. For example, some supports are only available to people with nationality from certain member countries, so it is vital to review each option individually. Below we share some support available in 2024.  

Scholarship for Postgraduate Studies and Research 2024

The OAS offers financial support to study  a full-time postgraduate degree at a university located in one of its member countries . This scholarship cannot be given to students who want to study at an institution in their home country.

The financial support covers distance or in-person studies, as long as they last at least one year and at most two . A condition of this scholarship is that once the studies have been completed, the student must return to their home country and stay for at least 24 months . The program you wish to take must be aligned with the priorities of the Organization’s Comprehensive Strategic Plan and cannot be in medical areas or foreign language teaching.    

This scholarship is complementary and has a monetary limit of $10,000 USD per academic year to cover expenses such as tuition, health insurance, maintenance, air transportation and study materials. 

•  Have citizenship or permanent residence of one of the countries on the OAS member list.
• Be proficient in the language of the country in which you seek to study.
• Fill out the online application .
• Send the requested documents (Bachelor’s degree, letters of recommendation, passport, transcript, CV)

The deadlines, as well as the application requirements, are subject to the regulations of each country. To consult in detail all the requirements, it is necessary to contact the OAS National Liaison Office in the applicant’s country of residence.

Scholarships to study remotely at the University for International Cooperation (UCI – Costa Rica)

UCI offers a variety of postgraduate programs that can be entered with a scholarship. Among these programs are:

• Master in Project Administration (MAPD)  ​​(Taught in Spanish)
• Master in Management of Health Programs in Food Safety (MIA)  (Taught in Spanish)
• Master in Project Management (MPM)  (Taught in English)

The modality of the courses is distance learning, with the possibility of in-person support classes depending on availability according to the country.  To be able to enter this program it is necessary to be from one of the OAS member countries , have command of the English language and have a history of good academic performance.

To apply it is necessary to apply to the UCI and be admitted. Once you become part of the program, all students’ profiles will be reviewed and they will be offered a scholarship that can cover 30%, 50% or 90% of the tuition. This financial support will only cover tuition and does not include travel expenses in case of attending in-person modules in Costa Rica , the host country of the UCI. As an extra requirement, it is necessary to have a passport with at least 6 months duration.    

The deadline to apply for these programs is February 12, 2024. On February 16, 2024, the students accredited with a scholarship will be published on the official OAS scholarship site . The start of the course is March 12, 2024. 

Scholarships to study a postgraduate degree at Structuralia

Structuralia (sf) defines itself as “an online graduate school specialized in engineering, construction, energy, infrastructure and digital transformation” . Through this partnership, OAS and Structuralia have decided to support outstanding students through scholarships to continue their graduate studies, granting a 50% discount on their tuition fees.   

The association favors women with an additional 5% discount on their tuition . Additionally, if the scholarship recipient is between 20 and 30 years old, she will have the possibility of accessing an additional technical course . 

To be eligible, the applicant must:

• Have nationality or legal residence of an OAS member state
• Have completed your application and been admitted to the Structuralia postgraduate course 
• Not having received any other OAS scholarship at the same educational level

The scholarship is aimed at graduates, preferably with professional experience in the area to which they are applying. The programs refer to highly specialized master’s degrees in STEM areas (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics), online and in English, Spanish and Portuguese. The programs offered are in the areas of civil engineering, architecture and building, industry, energy and environment, digital transformation and intelligent infrastructures ; Find out the complete list of courses offered on the official OAS website . Scholarship to study an online postgraduate degree at the International University of La Rioja

OAS in collaboration with the International University of La Rioja (UNIR), offer complementary scholarships for outstanding students so that they can continue with their postgraduate studies. 

Sixty scholarships are awarded, with a benefit of a 60% discount on tuition coverage  for 108 master’s programs in different disciplines such as administration, human rights, education, communication, marketing, sales, finance, human resources, technology, among others. others. To apply you need:

• Have citizenship or permanent residence of any of the countries on the list of OAS members.
• Have completed the admission process and been admitted to a UNIR participating program.
• Demonstrate financial solvency for program expenses not covered by the scholarship.
